Accounting without
DATEV in Odoo?
Sure!
September 2025 | Finance & Accounting | ERP
Many companies are faced with the question:
“Can we really use Odoo for our accounting, or do we also need DATEV or another system?”
The answer: Yes, Odoo can be used for accounting without DATEV.
And not just any old way, but efficiently, comprehensively, and future-proof—especially with the enhancements from syscoon.

Why combine Odoo and DATEV?
In practice, Odoo is often used in combination with DATEV or similar accounting programs. There are many reasons for this, and they depend heavily on the individual setup.
Here is an overview of the most common scenarios:
Scenario A: Preparing accounting in Odoo
Application: Outgoing invoices, warehouse processes, and preparatory postings are carried out in Odoo.
Closing: The tax advisor takes care of the final accounting, including the annual financial statements.
Scenario B: Partial accounting in Odoo, partial accounting with the tax advisor
Application: Most accounting tasks (incoming and outgoing invoices, bank reconciliation) are performed in Odoo.
Data transfer: Data is transferred monthly to the tax advisor, who takes care of things like the advance VAT return.
Annual financial statements: As in scenario A – by the tax advisor.
Scenario C: Complete accounting in Odoo
Application: All accounting tasks—from A to Z—are handled in Odoo.
Data transfer: Data is only transferred to the tax advisor at the end of the financial year.
Subsequent entries: These are made as needed via a manual entry list or import.
💡 Our focus is clearly on scenario C.
With the syscoon extensions, we get the most out of Odoo—for comprehensive, legally compliant, and efficient accounting directly in the system.
2. Overview of our possible solutions
Integration with DATEV (and similar systems)
For companies that wish to continue working with DATEV or similar systems, we offer sophisticated interfaces and automation solutions:
Booking transfer: Optionally with or without document images
Master data transfer: KSt1, KSt2, etc.
Bidirectional synchronization: DATEV postings back to Odoo & bank reconciliations from DATEV
👉 More details in our Blogpost about DATEV integration.
One-time data exchange: Balance export instead of full DATEV integration
If it's just about the annual financial statements or an audit period, we recommend:
Discontinuation of DATEV apps
Using a simplified balance export
Why?
Adapting Odoo to DATEV for a one-time export is time-consuming.
Even the smallest deviations can result in incorrect tax entries.
Figuratively speaking: You install a two-stroke engine in a Porsche.
The simplified DATEV balance import can be easily read by DATEV without any configuration and without the need for master data exports.
